Jason Rhines exemplifies the American entrepreneurial spirit. After volunteering to be responsible for the newly implemented Styrofoam lunch tray recycling program for his high school National Honor Society community service project, Jason quickly recognized that there was a need in his community for more recycling options. To fill that need he opened his first business by collecting recyclables from customers on a weekly basis.
After graduating High School and while attending college, Jason opened his second business Jay’s Hauling in 1995. In 1998 Jay’s Hauling won a contract from Moceri Development to haul away construction debris from all of their home building projects in the newly started Stonewater subdivision development in Northville Township.
After promising himself he would one day live in a house like those being built in Stonewater, Jason worked hard, expanded his business, and eventually realized his dream when he and his lovely wife Christine, a recently retired kindergarten teacher, purchased a home in the Woods of Edenderry where they still, very happily, live today. Together, Jason and Christine are parents to their four children.
As the Treasurer for Northville Township, Jason led efforts to repeal the 1% tax collection fee that had been forced onto taxpayers, cut water fees, and improved the township’s bond rate to AAA (the highest rating a municipality can achieve).
Being a self-made small business entrepreneur and a local elected official, Jason understands as well as anyone, the challenges facing families today. Trying to balance work and raising a family during the COVID crisis has been difficult for everyone. Jason understands that we need someone in Lansing that voters can count on. As our next State Senator Jason will work to rebuild our economy, restore our parent’s voice in our children’s education, and ensure that our public safety officials are properly funded and have our full support.
As our Treasurer, Jason has led efforts to cut taxes, lower water rates, and improve our bond rating to AAA. This is the exact leadership that is needed in Lansing. That is why I am excited to endorse Jason for State Senate.
As a small business owner, Jason understands the unnecessary struggles that our government has placed on our economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. As our State Senator, Jason will fight to rebuild our economy and get inflation under control.
Jason Rhines knows the struggle of rising prices at the grocery store and the gas pump are making it harder for Michigan families to make ends meet. Jason sees how rising fuel prices and higher costs of everything are putting pressure on small businesses to keep their doors open. As a small business owner, Jason Rhines will take action as our State Senator to keep costs down, help our small businesses keep their doors open and help Michigan families afford the essential items they need.
As Northville Township Treasurer, Jason Rhines has delivered results on the key issues that affect you; because Jason knows the value of every dollar your family earns. Jason Rhines has a record as a champion of good government. He cut taxes, increased the overall financial health of the township and lowered the fees you pay for the services your government provides. We expect a lot out of our elected officials and as our State Senator, Jason will take commonsense principles to Lansing and will work to get our economy back on the right track.
The number one priority of government is protecting its citizens. We can all agree that law enforcement serves a critical role in our everyday lives and needs to be supported and equipped with the resources necessary to succeed. As Northville Township Treasurer, Jason worked to give local law enforcement the tools to implement 21st century policing practices. He supported a program to embed mental health workers with our first responders to help divert people in need out of our jails and emergency rooms.
As our State Senator, Jason Rhines will continue to prioritize public safety and ensure our police officers have the tools necessary to build strong community relationships. Jason will always back the blue. Law enforcement has an incredibly difficult and often dangerous job that gets more challenging every year. They need our support and gratitude for keeping us all safe where we live, work and play.
Jason Rhines has a firm understanding of the challenges faced every day by teachers to deliver quality education in our classrooms. His wife was an elementary school teacher for 30 years and he values our educators.
There is no one size fits all approach to education. No two children are the exact same and every child deserves an opportunity to pursue their own path. We should encourage and support our children whether in college preparation or in acquiring the necessary tools to fill high-demand skilled trade jobs.
Exposing students to all options and opportunities will help them discover their true passion in life and build a stronger Michigan workforce that will be needed in the 21 Century
